Keri Russell Reveals Name and Sex of Her First Child with Matthew Rhys – and Says the Baby Is Doing ‘So Good’

Keri Russell has finally lifted the veil on her newborn baby!

On Friday, the actress revealed the name and sex of her first child with her The Americans costar Matthew Rhys: The couple welcomed a son, whom they named Sam.

Russell broke the news during an appearance on the Today show Friday after host Matt Lauer teasingly addressed the fact that the star had kept things very hush-hush and had not yet officially announced her third child’s arrival.

“I mean, I guess not,” Russell said with a laugh. “Where do you reveal that?”

“You could do it right now!” Lauer suggested.

“We had a boy,” Russell said. “[His name is] Sam. He’s so good. He’s big and fat and nice.”

Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys are officially both costars and coparents!

The Americans stars welcomed their first child together earlier this month, PEOPLE has confirmed.

A source close to the couple confirmed to PEOPLE in January that the pair were expecting a baby, saying that Russell and Rhys were “thrilled” about the upcoming addition to their family.

This is the first child for Rhys, 41, and the third for Russell, 40, who is already mom to daughter Willa, 4, and son River, 8, with ex-husband Shane Deary.

Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell have received their latest mission: parenthood!

The Americans actress is pregnant with her third child, a source confirms to PEOPLE.

“They’re thrilled,” a friend of the couple tells PEOPLE.

Already mom to daughter Willa Lou, 3, and son River, 7½, this will be Russell’s first child with her Americans costar.

After months of relationship rumors — and several sightings of the two together — PEOPLE confirmed in April 2014 that Russell and Rhys, 41, were an item.
