Halle Berry is one mama you do not want to mess with.

The 50-year-old actress recently clapped back at an Instagram troll who criticized a recent photo Berry shared of her children Nahla, 8, and 3-year-old son Maceo.

Berry posted a shot of the children showing only their smiles and bodies — but cropping their faces. One Instagram critic called the star out, writing, “What’s with the hiding of the faces? They’re beautiful children why not show them off?”

Halle Berry Shares Sweet Video of Her Kids on Memorial Day

05/31/2016 at 12:45 PM ET

Halle Berry may be new to Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest, but it looks like she has the artistic — and familial — sides of social media down.

The X-Men: Days of Future Past actress, 49, took to Instagram Monday to post a sweet clip of her two kids: daughter Nahla Ariela, 8, and son Maceo-Robert, 2½.  The siblings are shown embracing each other, with Nahla twirling flowers while her little brother looks on.

“Picking flowers and remembering those who have lost their lives,” Berry captioned the soundless video, ending her text accompaniment, “♥ us.”

Halle Berry In Awe of Daughter Nahla’s ‘Philanthropic Heart’

As far as maternal pride goes, Halle Berry has little reason to be restrained.

The Extant actress shared last month that, after taking her daughter on a trip to Nicaragua in support of the World Food Program, Nahla decided to send many of her toys to the impoverished children of the country. The 7-year-old also began running a lemonade stand several times a month to raise money for needy kids.

Her daughter’s preternatural empathy and ability to look beyond her own privilege have surprised and inspired the Academy Award-winning actress.

“I feel really proud as a mother that that’s where her mind is at 7 years old,” the mother of two, 48, told PEOPLE Wednesday while attending a Revlon luncheon in Beverly Hills in support of UCLA’s women’s cancer research program.

Halle Berry may be an Oscar-winning actress, but the Extant star says her most important role is mother.

Berry, who was awarded the Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA’s Kaleidoscope Award at the third annual Kaleidoscope Ball on Saturday in Culver City, California, spoke about how her own kids have inspired her to be a humanitarian, and realize the importance of children.

“[Children] are the most important, most vulnerable, most valuable assets that we have on the planet. To protect them is our duty,” said Berry during her acceptance speech. “Whether we have children or not, it is our responsibility.”

The actress, 48, is mother to two — Nahla, 7, with ex Gabriel Aubry, and Maceo, 18 months, with husband French actor Olivier Martinez.

Being Halle Berry requires a lot of multi-tasking.

As the star and executive producer of the new CBS drama Extant, the Academy Award-winning actress’ schedule is packed with meetings with her fellow producers and quality time with her children: daughter Nahla, 6, and 8-month old son Maceo.

“I love having my kids there [on set] because I am nursing my baby. To have him there is great for me,” Berry, 47, told PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of her new show on Monday. “I love being involved all day.”

And Berry isn’t the only one who loves being involved.

“Every morning I can lose myself just by looking at my son,” her husband, French actor Olivier Martinez, said recently in an interview printed in German Grazia magazine.

Halle Berry: My Baby Boy Is ‘Sucking the Life Out of Me’

05/20/2014 at 10:00 AM ET

He may have been the answer to a prayer. But that doesn’t mean it’s always easy for Halle Berry with her 7-month-old son Maceo.

For one thing, the Oscar winner says there’s a marked difference in how her baby boy breastfeeds compared to how her 6-year-old daughter Nahla did when she was an infant.

“When I would put Nahla on the boob, she would go [Berry makes a pucker face and light sucking sound]. A nice little girly suck,” the X-Men: Days of Future Past star says in an appearance Tuesday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “With him, it’s like [she imitates a chomping suck]. He’s like sucking the life out of me! So I see the difference between boys and girls.”

“That was TMI in my opinion, but okay,” DeGeneres jokes.

“I just want everyone to know that I know the difference,” says Berry. “Boys and girls are different from the time they get here. They really, really are.”

Halle Berry is still basking in baby bliss since the arrival of her sonMaceo-Robert.

“[He’s] perfect, just perfect. More love, more joy — having a new baby in your family brings that,” the actress, 47, told PEOPLE at Saturday’s 21st annual EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women in Los Angeles.

But the sudden surge of love in her life is balanced out by Berry’s need for a good night’s rest.

“[A new baby means] less sleep,” she says. “And I’m working on the TV show, [Extant]. It’s a new grind, it’s a new rhythm. We’re trying to get used to that. We’re managing.”

One thing the new mom has already gotten used to? Her body after baby.
