Eric Decker on Being a Dad to Two Kids: ‘It Definitely Makes It Feel Like the House Is Complete’

Eric Decker has definitely scored the mother (er, father?) of all touchdowns when it comes to his family.

The New York Jets player is dad to daughter Vivianne Rose, 2, and 10-month-old son Eric Thomas II with his country singer-songwriter wife Jessie James Decker. And though he’s certainly got his work cut out for him at times juggling a football career and parenting duties, life at home is a lot more fun with two kids.

“It’s great because they’re starting to play together,” Decker, 29, told PEOPLE Wednesday at the Superdry store opening in N.Y.C. “Eric is getting to an age where he can move around and hold his own with Vivi, so that’s been a fun transition to see from him being a baby to more of a toddler and on the ground playing.”

He adds that his older child has been a great big sister as she’s learning how to share with her baby brother.

“It definitely makes it feel like the house is complete when you have two little ones running around and playing,” Decker continues.

It seems as if Eric Decker and Jessie James Decker have scored a touchdown when it comes to their family of four.

According to the proud parents, the sibling bond between their children, Vivianne Rose, 2 this month, and 6-month-old son Eric Thomas II, couldn’t be stronger.

“They love each other,” James Decker, 27, told PEOPLE at the Jefferson Foundation Awards ceremony in Gotham Hall on Tuesday, where Decker, 28, was honored for his contributions to public service.

“Vivianne is obsessed with him and he’s obsessed with her. She can make him laugh harder than anybody just by looking at him. He thinks she’s so awesome.”

“I am so glad that I was able to show mommies what a real body looks like after baby,” James Decker, 27, tells PEOPLE exclusively of her decision to post candid shots on social media. “I have my scar and pooch, and 90 percent of the time I look a mess!”

Jessie James Decker is loving spending time with her “chill” baby boy Eric Thomas II, but with two under 2 now, there also comes a bit of chaos.

“It’s really great, the dynamic between all four of us, having one more addition,” says the singer, 27, whose Christmas EP, “This Christmas,” debuts Dec. 4. “Now that there are two babies in the house, it’s a lot more action!”

That action includes Daddy, New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker, bonding over football games and making room for “tummy time” with baby Eric, 9 weeks, while mom keeps 19-month-old daughter Vivianne Rose in on the fun — all while functioning on very little sleep.

“Every now and then Vivi may try to get a little bit of attention when I’m breastfeeding him, but other than that. she’s been a really big help,” says James Decker. “She’ll help throw the diapers away or she’ll help bring us a diaper. She’s trying to play that big sister role.”

They just welcomed son Eric Thomas II two weeks ago, but NFL star Eric Decker says wife Jessie James Decker has clocked in more time on diaper duty.

“With my daughter, I would say it was me,” the New York Jets wide receiver told PEOPLE of 18-month-old daughter Vivianne Rose, Thursday at the Samsung Hope For Children Gala.

“Now with the little boy, for sure her. It always works that way, with the dad and the little girl and the mom and the little boy. But all the kids are doing great, and it’s just so fun.”

Fun — and a new adventure! “It’s so different, having two compared to one, because the dynamic is so crazy,” says Decker, 28.

Eric and Jessie James Decker are only a week into their new life as the parents of two kids, and the family dynamic is “great already,” he told PEOPLE.

Well, mostly.

“I guess, with two kids who aren’t sleeping through the night makes it a little more hard — but other than that the dynamic is great already,” Decker, 28, said at Cantor Fitzgerald Charity Day in New York City Friday, where he was supporting the EJD Foundation.

“Obviously [newborn son Eric Thomas Decker ll is] only a week old but [17-month-old daughter] Vivianne, our oldest, is just very nurturing and very sweet with her brother.”

They’ve made it to the end zone: Eric and Jessie James Decker‘s baby boy is here!

The country singer has welcomed her second child with the New York Jets wide receiver, the couple announced Friday, sharing his name, photo and details on Sunday.

Born Thursday, Sept. 3 in Castle Rock, Colorado, Eric Thomas Decker ll weighed in at 9 lbs. and measured 20¼ inches long.

“We are so overwhelmed with love and feeling so blessed to have him join our family,” James Decker captioned a photo of her newborn dressed in football gear like dad.

The new addition joins big sister Vivianne Rose, 17 months.

“Thanks for all well wishes! Mama and baby boy are doing great,” Decker tweeted. “Vivi is the sweetest big sister!”

Added James Decker on Saturday, “Thanks for all the sweet messages. Been enjoying my sweet baby boy. He’s amazing. I’m so in love.”
