We Tried It: Milk & Cookies Kids Spa and Salon

What Is It: Milk & Cookies Kids Spa and Salon

Who Tried It: Regan Stephens, Photo Editor

Why We Did It: I imagined I’d take my daughter for her first manicure when she turned 16 — around the age I got my first. (A celebration for passing my driver’s test.)

But at just 3½, she’s had an eagle eye on every painted digit we’ve passed for months. When I heard about Milk & Cookies — a spa for the small set — I couldn’t resist treating her to a little Valentine’s Day outing.

We Tried It: FirstBIKE Balance Bike

Why she did it: I have a 3-year-old who refuses to pedal a bike. Enough said.

I also have a secret. I’ve never really believed all the hype surrounding balance bikes. Honestly, I thought it was one more cute kid product to add to the already long list of maybe-not-so-functional items on the market.

In fact, I had considered buying one as a Christmas gift for my little guy last year, but figured it would make a momentary splash before being pushed to the back of the garage. (Spoiler alert: Nowadays, it’s definitely being pushed — all over my house!)

We Tried It: Baby Jogger City Mini GT

Why she did it: For city dwellers, a stroller is often your little one’s primary form of transportation.

And after two and a half years of ours taking its fair share of winter abuse (snowy streets and salty sidewalks) and summer’s sticky popsicles, it was time for an upgrade.

We decided to go with the City Mini GT because it promises ‘Go Anywhere with AllTerrain Mobility.’ And after traversing countless city miles and a few jets and jaunts, we put it to the test.

Pros: Perhaps the biggest ‘pro’ of this stroller is the ease in which it folds down.

We Tried It: Dyson 65 Upright Vacuum Cleaner

What: Dyson 65 Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Who Tried It: Julia Wang, Features Director, PEOPLE.com

Why She Volunteered: Cleaning has become a “hobby” now that I’m a mom of two to a 6-year-old and a 9-month-old

I used to think I was really good at keeping house. Then I had kids.

Kids teach you so much — about love, innocence, patience … and how much dust, grime, glitter and all manner of detritus wind up everywhere.

There’s my free-spirited older child, who routinely snips construction paper into pieces of confetti and leaves a trail of tiny plastic toy parts around the house.

We Tried It: The Urbini Hummingbird, A.K.A. The World’s Lightest Stroller

Why she did it: Heralded as “the world’s lightest full-featured stroller,” how could we not try it out?

Pros: The Hummingbird, a kicky little stroller from the new juvenile brand Urbini, weighs in at an almost too-good-to-be-true 6.6 lbs.

You pretty much feel like a superhero being able to lift it with one hand, or even just a finger if you’re so inclined. It’s that light.

So it’s certainly easy to maneuver in and out of the car or up and down stairs — perfect for city dwellers who live in walk-up buildings or suburbanites who haul a stroller in and out of the car on a regular basis.

We Tried It: OXO Seedling High Chair

First and foremost, we’re moms.

But, for approximately three hours a day, we’re also waitresses.

It’s a shift with few perks: we never receive a tip, there’s rarely a kind word about the service or meals, and sometimes we even have to endure food being thrown at us.

So, the least we can ask for is a high chair that works well during the messy dance that is dinner.

Recently, we had the opportunity to try out the new OXO Seedling high chair ($150).

Here’s a breakdown of what works well and what doesn’t:

We Tried It: Eddie Bauer Baby Endurance Jogging Stroller

We Tried It: Eddie Bauer Baby Endurance jogging stroller — the first of its kind for the brand

Who tried it: Rennie Dyball, Senior Editor

Why she did it: With the warmer weather (finally!) it was time to hit the jogging trails with her 9-month-old

Pros: This is a seriously good-looking stroller that’s made for someone like me: a mom who wants to go on long walks and recreational jogs with her baby, but not a serious runner by any stretch.

Since the popular jogging stroller brands seem more targeted toward “real” runners (with price tags to match), this was a great choice.
