Justin Timberlake Credits Son Silas for Hit ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’: Fatherhood ‘Changes Everything’
The Today Show
Justin Timberlake is crediting fatherhood — and his 18-month-old son — for his smash hit “Can’t Stop the Feeling.”
“It changes everything. I would have never written a song like ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling,’ ” he told Today‘s Willie Geist on Tuesday of being a father to Silas Randall.
Adds the actor and singer, 35, “I don’t know that it was directly inspired to be something that my son could listen to of mine — because there’s a lot of music he can’t listen to of mine, at least not yet.”

Timberlake and his wife Jessica Biel welcomed Silas in April 2015. And while he may be seasoned in the music world, fatherhood has been a whole new ball game for the star.
“You literally just like wake up and look in the mirror and go, ‘I have no idea what I’m doing,’ ” he says with a laugh, adding that he has a new appreciation for his son and Biel, 34. “It’s humiliating and it’s humbling at the same time.”

The singer is keeping busy with a Netflix concert film documentary, Justin Timberlake + the Tennessee Kids, the lead voice role in the movie Trolls and a new album, his first since 2013’s The 20/20 Experience – Part 2 of 2.
But his most important role is a husband and father, evidenced by the former ‘NSYNC member raving about watching his wife of almost four years switch into mommy mode.
“You watch her realize she has a gear she didn’t have, and then you go, ‘Whoa,’ ” he says.
