After accidentally revealing that he and wife Mila Kunis are expecting a son on the Today show Thursday morning, Ashton Kutcher stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers on Thursday night where he not only confirmed the news — he also admitted it wasn’t what he was initially hoping for!

The happy couple are already parents to 2-year-old daughter Wyatt Isabelle. But Kutcher, 38, confessed to Meyers he wanted baby no. 2 to be a girl.

“I was actually hoping for a girl,” he said. “Because first of all — our first girl is unbelievable. But also I figured if we had a girl second, [Mila] might give me one more shot at having a boy and now I don’t know! It’s even money — she might cut me off!”

The eager dad explained that while he and his 33-year-old wife haven’t discussed having more kids, he certainly wants more than kids.

“I want, like, 12 of them,” he said.

But his desire was not a cause for disagreement among the couple. He assured fan, “We’re very excited and very happy.”

Kutcher isn’t the only one excited about the new addition to his family. He told Today that Wyatt Isabelle is equally looking forward to it.

“She points to Mila and she’s like, ‘Baby brother!’ when she points to the belly,” he said.

Kunis and Kutcher recently celebrated Wyatt’s second birthday. And if his experiences in helping his daughter open and assemble her gifts are any indication, it sounds like the soon-to-be dad of two has his work cut out for him.

“You have to have a toolbox just to get it out,” he joked to Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night‘s episode of The Tonight Show. “We have ruined opening presents for kids. She opens it and then it takes Dad like a half hour to cut the plastic swizzle sticks off and break it.”

Will they pick a girl’s name for their sin so he doesn’t have one that’s too boyish?

They sound like such normal, sane parents.

Kitty62862, I completely agree! That’s one of the many reasons I love Ashton & Mila – they’re so down-to-earth.

Why do people always want girls? I promise boys are amazing. I’m a teacher and can say from experience that girls are not easier than boys. They’re all out of their minds 😉

Why did he ever marry demi Moore if he wanted like 12 kids??

Eri, my thoughts exactly. And Sam, really? I have two girls and it’s amazing!

Sam I am a mom of two girls and two boys, as well as having worked in a classroom….neither gender is more or less sane, easier, harder, ect. They are all different, people are all different. There are fun aspects of having boys and fun aspects of having girls, hard aspects of having girls and hard aspects of having boys. I did have specific desires when I was pregnant, I was only ‘wrong’ for one of my children and I certainly don’t wish that child were a different gender now that they are here. It’s normal and I can relate to his desire completely since I too hoped my second was a girl so I wouldn’t have to try to convince my husband to have a third and because I was so in love with my first daughter I thought it would be amazing to have another and give her a sister. I did have another girl but I am sure Ashton won’t love his son any less because he’s not.
