Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys‘ exciting pregnancy news hasn’t affected their roles as KGB spies on The Americans — in fact, according to Rhys, Russell is just as sharp of a shooter, if not better!
During a Television Critics Association’s panel for the hit FX series in Pasadena, California, on Saturday, the expectant parents and executive producer Joel Fields were asked if Russell’s real-life pregnancy impacted the story line for the spy drama. (Russell, 39, and Rhys, 41, play a pair of Soviet KGB officers in an arranged marriage who are posing as Americans in suburban Washington, D.C.)
“No, it did not. We actually haven’t made any changes based on the happy news, except that we are happy,” Fields said.
Rhys then chimed in with a hilarious response: “And she’s now incredibly effective with a blow dart from a seated position at 12 feet.”
When Rhys was asked about impending fatherhood, the actor cracked a joke to reporters: “As soon as I find out if it’s verified or true, I’ll be over the moon.”
