Jimmy Fallon: Why Moms ‘Have to Be the Disciplinarians’ of Daughters

As the father to two little girls, Jimmy Fallon has become that dad.
“I thought I’d never be that annoying person [who shares pictures of his kids], but as soon as Winnie was born, I was showing iPhone snaps to a cab driver,” the Tonight Show host, 40, says in a new interview with Parents.
Of course, there are some not-so-fun things about being a dad to daughters Frances Cole, 5 months and Winnie Rose, 22 months.
“They vomit a lot. For a second I thought I needed to rename my first Linda Blair and hire a priest, because she was spitting up so much,” Fallon jokes.
But overall, the Saturday Night Live alum has taken to fatherhood like a champ.
He makes his own baby food (beet and Swiss chard pudding is on the menu), plays original songs for the girls on his guitar (including one that goes, “I’m dancin’, I’m dancin’, I’m dance-dance-dance-dance-dancin”), and has even accepted people talking to him about poop.
“As a parent you just get used to it, and pooping is just another verb in your vocabulary,” he explains.
One thing he didn’t succeed at: coaching his firstborn, Winnie, to say “Dada” as her first word. The missed moment led Fallon to pen a children’s book, Your Baby’s First Word Will Be Dada.
“I loved reading to Winnie, and at the time I came up with the book, it was important to me that her first word be ‘Dada.’ I went as far as to try to trick her into saying ‘Dada’ by calling everything ‘Dada,’ from her bottle to diapers to strawberry … Sadly, ‘Mama’ was her first word,” Fallon shares.

In addition to his baby book, the proud father is full of advice for first-time dads of daughters — and their mothers. “Moms should know that even the manliest guys will become softies when they have daughters,” he notes.
“Dads immediately fall in love with their little girls, and will let them get away with everything. So moms are going to have to be the disciplinarians when it comes to daughters.”
