Devon Sawa Welcomes Son Hudson Ben Mark Holzberg/The CW

Welcome to fatherhood, Devon Sawa.

The Nikita star and wife Dawni welcomed their first child on Thursday, Jan. 9, his rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

Son Hudson is “8 lbs., 1 oz. of pure love,” Sawa tells PEOPLE in a statement.

The actor, 35, hinted at the happy news last Saturday, Tweeting, “The most amazing week ever,” although he and his wife, a producer on The Bachelor Canada, kept details to themselves until today.

“I love him. He’s my little pride and joy,” Sawa added Thursday.

Known for earlier turns in Final Destination, Now and Then and Casper, Sawa fans are hopeful the actor will reprise his role as Sean for the upcoming SLC Punk! sequel.

Congrats to all the moms and dads that have just welcomed their beautiful babies into the world, I give a lot of credit to all the moms who did the all natural home births. I know I couldn’t do it, I had a C-section and thought I was going to die. But every bit of pain is worth it, babies are such a blessing and a miracle. To know you brought a person into this world is such an awesome feeling. And good luck to all the moms and dads who haven’t had their babies yet – enjoy the sleeping now.

I sure hope for this poor baby’s sake that Devon has stopped using drugs, though knowing what a self-absorbed ass he was even before drugs, I highly doubt he’d do anything to put his child or family first. Sure hope I’m wrong…
