Shiri Appleby Welcomes Daughter Natalie Bouader

It’s a girl of her own for Shiri Appleby.

The actress — whose guest-starring role as Natalia on Girls just aired — has welcomed a daughter, she confirms to PEOPLE.

“Natalie Bouader Shook came into this world Saturday, March 23rd at 5 p.m. sharp, weighing in at 6 lbs., 12 oz. [and] 20.5 inches,” Appleby, 34, tells PEOPLE.

“[She has] big brown eyes and a full head of hair. She’s already made her parents proud.”

This is the first child for Appleby and fiancé Jon Shook, a chef and owner at Los Angeles restaurant Animal.

Appleby, who recently had guest-starring roles on Chicago Fire and Franklin & Bash, is best known for playing Liz on Roswell.

The actress, who waited until delivery to find out the sex of her baby, got engaged in Italy last July.

I had no idea who this woman was (I don’t watch ‘Girls’) so I Googled her to find out that her character’s name is Natalia? At first I loved that the name was normal, but now I feel like ‘Natalie’ is a bit egotistical. JMO

I’ve liked Shiri Appleby since her Roswell days. Love the baby’s name. Sounds like they actually care more about the baby than what kind of spectacle they can make of having a child. In my family, middle names are always family names. It’s a very nice custom.

@JT1260 maybe they had that name picked out BEFORE she was cast on Girls?? I had my daughter’s middle names (and a first name, it just didn’t work with hubby’s last name) picked out long before I got pregnant or even met my husband. And even if she didn’t, WHO CARES!! It is a beautiful name, she and her fiancee clearly love it and so that is all that matters.

Cute name! Can’t wait to see the baby. Kinda figured she was having a girl (Despite many thinking she was having a boy) as she was carrying high.

Bree…I totally agree with you. I had my daughter’s name picked out from the time I was 10. I KNEW if I had a girl she would have that name…and lo and behold I have a girl and gave her the name I picked out many years before.

I hate when people say that they can determine the sex by the way the woman carries the baby. I had total strangers stop and argue with me that I was having a boy (even after telling them the ultrasound revealed a girl). How about that is just the way a woman’s body is built?

Bree- Exactly! Or maybe they DID pick out the name after was cast in “Girls”, but chose it for other reasons (and possibly didn’t even think of the show when they chose it!).

Finally, a baby born and given a normal name…it’s about time…don’t these hollywood people know that they are giving kids with weird names a lot of phsycological damage in the comming years!!!…seriously, if you love your kids, give them a NORMAL NAME!!!!
