It’s another girl for Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard.

The couple welcomed daughter Gloria Ray on Thursday, April 19 in New York City, her rep confirms to PEOPLE.

The new addition joins daughter Ramona, 5.

The actors, who wed in Italy in 2009, announced the pregnancy in November and the sex of the baby in March.

“I find it difficult to pretend you’re not pregnant, which I had to do,” Gyllenhaal, 34, said recently. “I didn’t let anyone know until three and a half months this time.”

Next up for the actress is Won’t Back Down, while Sarsgaard, 41, will appear in Lovelace.

LOVE Gloria….hate when people spell Ray this way. So many celebrities do it.

Congratulations on the birth of your little girl πŸ™‚

Congratulations to the couple! I love their name choices, I also love the fact that they had a bit of time before telling the world…i.e. People mag! It is always so funny to me when a couple has an annoucement to the “public” so fast I wonder if their families even got a call first!

Now I am just wondering about that Jessica and when she will produce an announcement…. :+)

I love the names they choose for their kids! Though they’re not my particular taste, I think Ramona and Gloria are very cute and fairly original (but not in a weird way).

I was REALLY hoping they would name her Beezus.

Congratulations to them! Welcome to the world baby Gloria!

Congratulations to them! Love the baby’s name.

Holly on

I like the name Gloria too! If I had a girl, that’s what I’d name her

It’s interesting that this couple chose for their daughters names that feel antique but are, in fact, timeless. Congratulations, Maggie, Peter and Ramona!

Congrats!

I prefer Ramona over Gloria, but they go nicely together. All in all, beautiful choices. Congrats on the new baby girl.

ALK on

wow a actor/actress who gave their child a normal name. shocking!

Love the name…so old school sounding…not stupid like Blue or Bear…those names make me think of a puppy…Gloria brings to mind old Hollywood glamour

Lily on

Love this couple and love that they choose timeless names. I prefer a girl’s name to be spelled Rae, not Ray, but it sounds lovely with Gloria.

Noonah on

Oh, how refreshing to hear about a celebrity child with a NORMAL NAME! Congrats to Maggie and Peter (and big sis Ramona of course)

Nancy on

I really love the 2 names she picked for her girls. They both go back to the 60s/70s era.

I like the name choices as well. My mother’s name is Gloria, and her sister’s name is Ramona. πŸ™‚

Congratulations to Peter, Maggie and Ramona on the your new addition of Gloria. I like Rae better than Ray but it’s still cute.

Congratulations to this couple on birth of their baby girl.

I wanted to name my daughter Bobbi Rae but the world went nuts cause I was naming a girl with two boys name. I did this to name her after my husband cause I thought she would be my last. I changed it to Bobbi-Rhea which is even more weird and have taken a lot of flack for it and have found people either hate it or love it. But her husband loves it so that was all that mattered.

GLoria ray and ramona? om goodness- yech- bad names!!!!!

Amber on

Not the hugest fan of the name (I don’t think I dislike it, but I don’t exactly like it either) but I think it’s wonderful news about the birth – congratulations to Maggie and Peter! (The name does work really well along with Ramona though…very cute…)

I wonder if Gloria will be as pretty as Ramona? Haven’t seen any recent pics of her but she was such a doll when she was a wee thing.

I simply loved the name β™₯

Congrats to them! I love the name, and I love the way they spelled Ray! To me “Rae” just doesn’t look right, and I can’t understand “Rhea” at all. To me that looks like it should be pronouced “Re-uh” rather than Ray.

Darn, I was hoping they’d name her Beatrice! It just goes so well with Ramona. πŸ˜‰ Ah well, congratulations on their new baby girl. I’ll bet she’s as pretty as her big sister.

Love it – congrats! πŸ™‚

Couldn’t be more with you, Maria—–blechhhhhh on those names, all the way around. :—(

Hate the names, do these celebrities not think before they name their children? Just because its in a baby name book instead of the grocery aisle does not mean its a good name to use for your baby.

Kar on

So classic name are awful, yet creative names are awful.

Lovely name, and she’ll even have multiple songs with her name!

queenofhearts on

Congratulations Maggie, Peter & Ramona on the birth of baby Gloria!!

It’s not my favourite name but maybe because I am from the UK and this is a pretty unheard of name for a child… But I love the name Ramona and I think the 2 go together really well.

Congrats!

Kar- Excellent point! Celebs get criticized for chosing unusual or creative names for their kids, they get critcized for naming their kids popular names, and they get critcized for naming them classic names. Talking about a lose-lose situation!

And really, I can’t believe people are criticizing such a beautiful, positive name (how much more positive can you get than something that means “glory”?!) like Gloria!

Jillian on

Anonymous, everyOne has different opinions, so not everyone is going to love or even like the name Gloria. that’s why.

congratulations to the beautiful family! LOVE the name! classic and lovely.

enough of the morrocan, apple, bear, zuma, exton ridiculousness!

Amanda on

HATE that name! All I can think of is Gloria Bunker from All in the Family…simply AWFUL.

What’s with celebs and these old-fashioned names? Some are cute but most are not, like ‘Hattie’ for Tori Spelling’s daughter-YUCK!

The only old-fashioned name I’d ever consider giving my child is Clara. I think it’s old-fashioned but still beautiful.

dana on

so glad maggie decided to breed the jew out her line and reproduce with a non-jew. she is half jewish and now the kids will only be 1/4 jewish. better for them. as her family is of the royal gylenhaal family, i am delighted she married a nothe scandinavian. i hope they do not take after her jewish mother in looks and that she raises them catholic like peter.
